We're powered by our dedicated community of supporters and volunteers who share a commitment to foster civility, respect, and peace.

The work of the DRC is made possible by the many individuals, businesses and organizations who have made an investment in our mission through their volunteer, financial, in-kind and service partnership support.

How Can I Give?
There are many ways to show your support for local peacemaking. In addition to making a one-time gift on our website or through the mail, you may also consider:
  • Make a Monthly Commitment of Support - Make a monthly sustaining gift that fits your budget.  Your recurring monthly gift can be paid via your credit/debit card, or by automatic monthly payments through your bank.
  • Business Sponsorships – Business sponsorships are a great way to get the word out about your business while supporting local peacemaking. Sponsors of The Toast, our annual fundraising event, reach over 2,000 elected officials, business leaders, and community members through the acknowledgement and visibility they receive at the event and beyond.  Businesses can also support specific DRC programs and initiatives.
  • Combined Fund Drive – If you are a state employee, you can give to the DRC through monthly payroll deductions. The DRC’s charity number is 0316167. Learn more at Washington State Combined Fund Drive.

Phone Conciliation / Resource Line
Do you enjoy coaching others to solve problems with neighbors, tenants, landlords, and co-workers? Would you like to help families prepare for mediation? Let us train you in the art of phone conciliation!

As a phone conciliator, you’ll commit to a weekly, 2-4 hour shift answering calls to our Conflict Resolution Resource Line where you’ll talk with callers about conflicts and assess their needs. You’ll help figure out next steps, facilitate negotiation, explain DRC services, and act as a neutral go-between. Conciliators also help with other tasks, as time and interest allow.

Training is on-the-job in a supportive, congenial environment. Conciliators learn the language of neutrality and respect, and model effective communication skills for parties.

Mediation
The DRC has more than 80 active volunteer mediators who help resolve conflict in our community.  We provide training to become a certified mediator, as well as continuing education to advance your skills. In addition to two-party mediation skills, volunteers may choose to work with Small Claims Court, or specialize in Family or Multi-Party mediations.

Office & Administrative Support
Do you like assisting with daily office tasks, like data entry and mailings?  Do you have skills in accounting?  Are you familiar with using Microsoft Office or other software?  We welcome all kinds of help with our day-to-day operations.

Internships
Interns assist with special projects, trainings, and events as appropriate. We accept intern applicants year-round and will work with you to develop an internship that meets your learning goals.  Internships range between 8-20 hours per week and can be assigned for as little as one quarter or as long as an entire academic year.

Community Engagement Team
Are you interested in helping spread the word about the DRC in our community?  If so, consider becoming part of our Community Engagement Team.  We are seeking volunteers to help with distributing materials, staffing DRC displays, giviong presentations and assisting with community events.
