Training Scholarships
Scholarships provide full training fee support for individuals with the expectation that the recipient will commit to volunteering for one year as a mediator after becoming certified.

Bruce Bergquist Youth Scholarship
Bruce Bergquist was one of the founders of the DRC and served as Assistant Director until 1998. The purpose of this scholarship is to support youth who want to become part of the DRC mediator team by providing training tuition assistance. Teen mediators are needed for Family cases involving a conflict between parent(s) and teen children, and are paired with adult mediators for these cases.
Criteria: The 40-Hour Professional Mediation Training fee is cut in half for teens ages 14-19. Scholarship recipients’ families will be asked to pay whatever they can toward the training fee. Scholarship funds will be used to pay the remainder. There is no application process—simply call the DRC for eligibility assessment.
We ask scholarship recipients to volunteer as mediators for the DRC for one year, but eligibility for the scholarship does not depend on a candidate’s ability to make that commitment. The term of the commitment may be aligned with the school calendar, as needed.
For scholarship eligibility criteria and general questions, call (360) 956-1155.
