"It’s a beautiful thing to effect change in the world, or even just the community around us. Having conflict is never the problem. It’s having the ability to come to a resolution that’s difficult. And when you can work with others in creating change in your community, the ability to communicate becomes invaluable. I took the Conflict Crash Course a couple years ago through work and I was intrigued. When the 40 hour training became available in person here in Olympia, I was excited for the opportunity. The training was well put together, and very engaging. The class size was large enough to have a variety of questions, and Leah, Terry, and all of the volunteers were amazing. I’ve learned so much that I’m able to apply in both my professional and personal life. The volunteer mediators that took their time with the class were wonderful and it truly displayed their, and the DRC’s, commitment to encouraging growth in the world around us. I’m thankful for the experience and the knowledge gained."
Emily Lopez Senior Services for South Sound "The 40-Hour Professional Mediation training equipped participants with a sound framework, tools, and resources to support effective mediation skills for participants. The training provided participants with opportunities to put the process into action through mock mediations in which observes and coaches provided feedback in real time. Overall, participants shared appreciation for their learning and confidence in their ability to implement the skills they learned. I highly recommend the training for anyone interested increasing their skill mediating/navigating conflict." Maxine Broussard-Upchurch, Puget Sound Educational Service District |
