40-Hour Professional Mediation Training

Course Description
This online training course is for anyone who wants to help others solve conflicts more peacefully, build relationships with neighbors, co-workers and friends, strengthen professional skills, or become a certified mediator with the DRC. Over the course of 40 hours, you will learn the philosophy, process, and practice of a neutral facilitator. The concepts and skills taught are easily transferable and are designed to improve communication in all settings. ​


​Cost: $675

Credits Offered:
  • 33 Continuing Legal Education credits with a $25 processing fee.
  • 40 clock hours for Washington State Educators with a $20 processing fee.

Conflict Crash Course Series

Course Description
Navigating the conflicts in our lives with integrity, civility and respect for oneself and others is fundamental to maintaining healthy relationships and building a civil society. This 3-part online training series will provide you with concrete skills and practice that you can use in your day-to-day life to improve communication, enhance relationships, manage conflict, and prevent escalation in any setting. We emphasize both group collaboration and personal empowerment to resolve conflict and we recognize that our values are informed by our histories, experiences, and cultural backgrounds.

Cost: Each individual offering costs $49/person. If you choose to register for all three trainings, you will receive a $25 discount for a total price of $122

Facilitating Effective Meetings

Course Description
Are you tired of leading or attending unproductive or dysfunctional meetings?   This two-day online training is for anyone who runs or attends meetings in government agencies, businesses, schools, non-profits, civic groups, faith communities or other organizations.  This highly-interactive training provides participants with a foundation in the concepts, processes, and skills for designing and facilitating meetings.  
No prerequisites required to participate.

Cost: $300

Credits Offered: 16 clock hours for Washington State Educators with a $20 processing fee.

Family Mediation Training

Course Description 
This online advanced mediation training prepares you for the increased complexity and high emotions of mediating family conflict. It includes information on state and local laws that govern family mediations and addresses diversity in families, needs of children, domestic violence, ethical dilemmas in mediation, and negotiating parenting plans.
​You must have completed the 40-Hour Professional Mediation Training to take this training.

Credits Offered:
  • 15 Continuing Legal Education credits with a $25 processing fee.
  • 20 clock hours for Washington State Educators with a $20 processing fee.

Multi-Party Mediation Training

Multi-Party Mediation Training
Course Description
This online advanced mediation training prepares you for the increased complexity when conflict occurs between more than two people. It includes information on fostering a productive problem solving environment, making collaborative decisions, structuring meetings for maximum productivity, increasing clear communications, and dealing with conflict on the job.

This training is designed for trainees who 1) are certified mediators OR 2) have completed the 40-Hour Professional Mediation Training within the past two years, entered our mediator practicum, and completed four mediations.  If you need to discuss your eligibility for this training, please contact Ash Edmonds.

Training Policies

Discounts 
Group discounts are available for multiple registrants from the same organization. 
Discounts are also available for active DRC volunteers, groups, partner faith communities, and mediators trained at other DRCs. 

Cancellation Policy
Full refunds available for cancellations received 7 or more days prior to the first day of training. 50% credit for cancellations received less than 7 days prior to the first day of training. No refund for cancellations received on or after the first day of training. Credit may be used for future training. Please contact us for more information.
